High-res Peterson is at it again.
justinpeterson:

I’m giving away a one-of-a-kind copy of Very Near Mint vol. 1 over at the VNM Facebook page.
This is a blank cover printer proof of vol. 1, with the complete normal insides… so I whipped up a cover sketch.  With my left hand.  (I draw right handed.)
It’s a recreation of the actual cover for vol. 1… just left handed. Why? Because it would have been easy to draw it right handed!  And that’s no fun, right? Right.
Anyway!  You want it?  All you need to do is go over to facebook.com/verynearmint and “like” the page, and then “like” the status update with the photo above.  Simple!  I’ll be picking a lucky (or maybe unlucky) someone to win this sometime this week!

VERY NEAR MINT Vol. 2 is AVAILABLE NOW!

I’m super proud of this book, and I think it’s some of the very best work I’ve ever done.  There’s three versions, the standard edition (the red cover), the blank sketchcover edition (which I can draw on it for you!) and the ‘oversized’ edition, which is 7 x 10 (more in line with a regular comic book size for those of you who don’t like manga sized books).

All editions are the exact same inside (except one is just bigger)… and all of them feature great bonus features like sketches, production artwork, and pin-ups from some great artists… they are:

Noelle Stevenson (she blows up the interwebs on a daily basis)

Jason Keith Phillips (he does a ton of sketch cards for various trading card sets!)

Emi Lenox (she does the great web / Image comic ‘Emitown’)

Terry Blas (he writes and draws the fantastic ‘Briar Hollow’)

and Christopher Burdett (this guy is insane, and has done work for D&D, Buffy, Angel and more)

And there’s also work in the book from my pals Paul Abbamondi and Joe Hunter.

You can pick up the book now at the Adventuring Company webstore, and come and get one in person this weekend at MoCCA Fest, Heroes Con in June, or later this week Challengers Comics in Chicago, Little Shop of Comics in NJ, or Secret Headquarters in Tallahassee (more comic shops will carry the book soon, too!)

High-res justinpeterson:

Afternoon!  We’re in the middle of packing up all our gear to head to the great white north (Snow? In late April? Thanks, New York!) for MoCCA Fest 2012, this weekend, April 28-29 (more information than you can shake a stick at here!)
Adventuring Company (sans Lee this time, sorry ladies!) will be at table L-17!
We’ll have all our usual wares, including the brand new VERY NEAR MINT Vol. 2 (all editions!) and some brand new prints, including Mr. Stay Puft here.  Rumors of some sweet AC stickers are also floating about, so, if you ask, maybe we’ll hook you up!

The Waiting is the Hardest Part
(LARGER VERSION HERE!)
So, this past week, my girlfriend and I went to a local Food Truck cafe.  For those of you not in the know, food trucks? Totally in right now.
Anyway, we had gone a couple weeks ago and the food was amazing. I had a cheddar & beef sandwich and Erin had a burger, I think.  Both were great.  We decided to go back, and this time, I wanted to check out the burger truck.  They had a Krispy Kreme burger (they use the donuts for buns!), but I opted for something more tame, paid my 8 bucks, and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited some more.
Over 50 minutes past, and I had yet to get any food.  I had asked, around the 30 minute mark, if it was gonna be much longer, and they said “it’d be right up.”  But right up never came.  I asked for my money back, was offered a free Coke for my troubles (I turned it down), and Erin and I went off to get me some food elsewhere (she didn’t have any problems with the food truck she picked!)…
I should have just gone with the Korean BBQ Taco truck.

SPX 2011 Recap!

justinpeterson:

Well, Small Press Expo 2011 has come and gone.  Lee & I drove to DC (from Tallahassee!) and back over the past week… lots and lots of driving! But totally worth it.

The convention was awesome, tons of fantastically talented people milling about.  I highly recommend the convention to anyone and everyone.

We met up with our friends Paul and Tara, and finally met our long time internet friend Joe Hunter. Tara put together a sweet little recap comic… check it out!

(Click it for a bigger version!)

Also, Tuesday, I turned 30. Lee, my wonderful girlfriend Erin and I took in the sights of Washington DC and ate some awesome pizza at Matchbox (check it out if you’re ever in the area)… so, all in all? A pretty rad week.

Up next: Florida State University’s GEEK NIGHT tomorrow night, Friday, September 16th, and then the final convention of the year for Adventuring Company, APE out in San Francisco, October 1st & 2nd.  We’re gonna have some brand new, never before seen comics for sale!  More on that shortly.
